Rangkajati is a premium furniture brand based in Jepara, Indonesia—a region world-renowned for its centuries-old woodworking heritage. The brand specializes in high-quality Teak and Mahogany furniture, blending traditional Indonesian craftsmanship with sleek, modern design aesthetics. The objective was to build a robust e-commerce platform that reflects the brand’s “Modern Heritage” identity and provides a seamless shopping experience for a discerning global and local clientele.

Buying high-end furniture is a sensory experience. The primary challenge was to translate the tactile quality, weight, and intricate detail of handcrafted wood into a digital format.
Communicating the superior quality of Jepara craftsmanship to an audience that cannot touch the product.
Creating a UI that feels modern and "expensive" without overshadowing the natural beauty of the wood textures.
Ensuring an image-heavy e-commerce site remains fast and responsive across all devices, particularly for users browsing on mobile.
I implemented a minimalist, grid-based layout that functions like a digital gallery. By utilizing a clean, neutral color palette and generous white space, the focus remains entirely on the product photography. This allows the rich grains of the Teak and Mahogany to serve as the primary visual element of the design.
To bridge the gap between “traditional” and “modern,” I paired sophisticated, high-contrast serif headings with clean sans-serif body text. This typographic hierarchy communicates both the brand’s deep roots in Jepara’s history and its contemporary design philosophy.
I designed product layouts that prioritize large-scale imagery and detailed close-ups, allowing users to inspect the craftsmanship and joinery.
Products are categorized intuitively by room and material, making it easy for customers to find specific pieces while encouraging the discovery of matching collections.
The "Add to Cart" and checkout processes were streamlined to minimize steps, ensuring that the path from inspiration to purchase is as smooth as possible.
The final Rangkajati platform is a sophisticated digital storefront that successfully positions traditional Jepara craftsmanship within the modern luxury market.
